The last Victorian on Lake Merritt's shore welcomes you to its annual holiday open house. Beginning in 1876 the house was the private residence of five families instrumental in the development of the City of Oakland and the State of California. In the early 20th century it became the first museum in the City of Oakland. Today you docents guide you through rooms that have been recreated to reflect the life in 19th century Oakland. In addition you will meet the Gingerbread Lady, listen to live holiday music and enjoy refreshments. Free to all, no reservations needed.
