Hold Please

When: Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2 p.m. Continues through Nov. 23 2008

If you don't get enough of office politics at the office, Annie Weisman's 2001 comedy Hold Pleaselets you eavesdrop on the complaints, backbiting, and gossip of four secretaries in a corporate office, two older and two younger and all of distinct types -- the cheery one, the severe one, the chatterbox, the sexpot -- all of whom become embroiled in a possible sexual-harassment case involving one of their male co-workers. (As in Clare Boothe Luce's play The Women, which had a major Broadway revival the same year Hold Please premiered, the men are talked about but never seen.) Scott Fryer directs Heidi Abbott, Megan Briggs, XanaduBruggers, and Sondra Putnam in Diablo Actors Ensemble's new Walnut Creek digs, formerly home to Playhouse West. October 24 through November 23 at Diablo Actors Ensemble Theatre (1345 Locust St., Walnut Creek). DiabloActors.com or 925-482-5110
