Hog Heaven III

When: Sat., July 31, 1-4 p.m. 2010

Religious custom and cholesterol content aside, pork is decidedly delicious ñ and, lately, the subject of much foodie fetishism, popping up with increasing frequency on trendy menus all over the Bay Area. The folks at Pasta Shop (1786 Fourth Street, Berkeley) are devoting an entire afternoon to porcine pleasures with a head-spinning, mouth-watering set of demos and tastings. Highlights include a talk from Ari Weinzweig, author of 2009Õs Guide to Better Bacon, and Scott Brennan, lead butcher at CafŽ Rouge, who will be leading a demonstration on Bratwurst. There will, of course, also be all kinds of pork products available for sample and sale from several local restaurants and butchers. 1-4 p.m., free. 510-250-6004 or PastaShop.net
