Hiromi Ito

A two-time finalist for Japan's prestigious Akutagawa Prize and winner of the Takami Jun Award, Tokyo-born Hiromi Ito embraces the persona of writer-as-shaman in such poetry collections as Green Plums and Wild Grass Upon a Riverbank. She has also authored books of essays and translated medieval Buddhist tales and The Cat in the Hat into Japanese.
