Hancock's Seat Up for Grabs

The Chron did its duty and wrote up a short biography of each candidate vying to replace Loni Hancock in the state Assembly, and it looks like Nancy Skinner is the one to beat this year. She's raised the most money and snagged the incumbent's endorsement, after all. Kriss Worthington's combative side came out nicely in the piece when he declared his job in the state Assembly would be "making Arnold Schwarzenegger lose sleep at night." Physician Phil Polakoff wants to be known as the "people's doctor," as if that riff doesn't make immediately think of former Richmond city councilmember and slightly unsavory lawyer Jim Rogers. Speaking of Richmond, city councilman Tony Thurmond rounds out the race.
