Terrifying Halloween Tour
Halloween is just around the corner, and if you’re looking for a scary adventure, look no further than the haunted tour at Oakland’s Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate. For three terrifying nights beginning on Thursday, visitors will have the opportunity to be escorted through the “haunted” mansion, which was the backdrop of the 1976 horror movie Burnt Offerings. If you’re lucky, you might catch the ghost of Alexander Dunsmuir, who built the estate back in 1878. Or maybe you’ll run into his beloved wife, Josephine, in the hallway. Be careful when you go up the stairs! I.W. Hellman Jr., who owned the mansion after the Dunsmuirs, might also attend the frightening festivities. This event isn’t appropriate for kids under 7, but for those brave enough, get ready to mingle with the spirits. — Azucena Rasilla
Thursday Oct. 26, through Saturday Oct. 28, 6:30-9 p.m., $7-$10, Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate, 2960 Peralta Oaks Ct., Oakland, Dunsmuir-Hellman.com
