Ha Ha Tonka

When: Sat., March 26, 9 p.m. 2011

Ha Ha Tonka is named after the Ha Ha Tonka State Park in the band's native Missouri. The group blends bluegrass-influenced acoustics, roots rock, and a folk-inspired singer-songwriter vibe into a socially conscious style that still provides plenty of fun. Its music can range in style from acoustic jams to full-tilt rockers, with songs that explore the fraying edges of the American way of life that many folks can't afford anymore. Still, the tunes are delivered with a sly sense of irony and an uplifting energy that keeps things from getting too depressing. Hoots and Hellmouth and The Devil's Own open. At The Hotel Utah (500 Fourth Street, San Francisco) on Saturday, Mar. 26. 9 p.m., $10. TheHotelUtahSaloon.com
