When: Thu., Dec. 1, 8-11 p.m. 2011

Despite the relative decline or stabilization of HIV infections in most parts of the world, tens of millions of people still live with the virus worldwide, according to a UNAIDS report. This makes World AIDS Day a significant time of recognition for those affected by the virus. Locally, Bench and Bar (510 17th St., Oakland) shows its support for the occasion on Thursday, Dec. 1, with a free evening of appetizers, drag performances, and raffles -- plus free HIV testing courtesy of the Berkeley Free Clinic, and other health-related information provided by East Bay organizations. 8-11 p.m., free. 415-554-9058 or SFIsReady.org
