Rightwing Christian churches from the US are pouring money and missionaries into Uganda as part of a vaguely delineated plan to have that East African country become a “testing space for their ideologies,” and this informative documentary by African-American filmmaker Roger Ross Williams is there to lay it out for us, from Kansas City to Kampala. The focus of the exposé is the Americans’ insistence on banning homosexuality and promoting an “abstinence only” policy for combating HIV/AIDS. As the evangelicals put it: “God wants the righteous to rule.” Looks like religious imperialism to us. Classic muckraking (83 min.).
