Ten years ago, Gilman decided to make it official and host regular ska nights. Not that ska wasn’t already a major part of the club’s shows. Gilman is, after all, the club that birthed Operation Ivy. But Gilman Ska Nights means stacked bills with the best local and national ska bands. No more having to sit on the sidelines during performances by three punk bands before you can get your skank on. This being the ten-year anniversary, the venue wanted to make it ska-special. Of course they invited headliner MU330’s Dan Potthast, a ska shaman, who will whip you up into a dancing frenzy. The show also features the debut performance of Omnigone, a new project by local legend Adam Davis, whom we all remember as the tall guy with the wild dreaded-hair in East Bay ska-core outfit Link 80. Maybe he’ll even eat a burrito on stage for old time’s sake. Kill Lincoln, Day Labor & Noise Complaint open.
