Lamplighters Music Theatre knows a thing or two about Gilbert and Sullivan, having specialized in the duo's comic operas for the last 55 years. Barbara Heroux has been with the company for thirty of those years, first as an actress and now as artistic director, and she's currently directing a revival of the show in a Topsy-Turvyvein that she wrote for Lamplighters, Gilbert & Sullivan: Straight Up, with a Twist!Winner of a 1998 Bay Area Theater Critics Circle award for best original musical, the musical revue includes songs from all thirteen of William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan's surviving operettas, hung around a biographical framework about their partnership's ups and downs, using their own words from letters and diaries.
