George Taber

When: Fri., Oct. 26, 7:30 p.m. 2007

Put a cork in it -- or not. Maybe a glass or plastic stopper would do the trick, or even a screwcap? That is the question driving George Taber's To Cork or Not to Cork: Tradition, Romance, Science, and the Battle for the Wine Bottle, an examination of a vinicultural hot-button issue that gets hotter with every new alternative the high-tech folks cook up. Taber's previous work, The Judgment of Paris, was named 2006 Book of the Year by Decanter magazine. Probing a topic that affects over 20 billion bottles of wine per year, he discusses "the onslaught against cork" at Mrs. Dalloway's (2904 College Ave., Berkeley). Friday, Oct. 26, 7:30 p.m.
