All Ages, Blues, Folk, & Country

Geoff Muldaur

When: Fri., March 13, 8 p.m. 2009

Geoff Muldaur has one of the unique voices in American folk and roots music, a quivering, fragile tenor that brings deep feeling to everything he sings. His legendary work with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Paul Butterfield's Better Days was only the warmup for his more recent work exploring the highways and byways of American music, from folk to blues to jazz. His recent tribute to Bix Beiderbecke, Private Astronomy, showed off his skills for arranging and inventive interpretion, which should come as no surprize to longtime fans. He'll be playing solo on Saturday, April 12 at the Freight and Salvage (1111 Addison St., Berkeley), with that amazing voice accompanied only by his considerable finger picking prowess. 8 p.m., $18.50 in advance, $19.50 at the door.
