Gatherings at L@TE

Oakland multimedia/installation artist David Wilson is programming Friday-night performance events at Berkeley Art Museum in July and August. July 9's Sun Ceremony featured an installation by Wilson and Chris Duncan, light projections by Jeffrey Manson (onto a solar white sphere suspended amid cymbals), singing by Meara O'Reilly and SUN Choir, and spirited drumming by the audience on the museum walls and floor (sticks were provided). Upcoming events include performances by Grouper's Liz Harris (music and tape) and Eugene Petrushansky (handmade harpsichord) on Friday, July 23; Balinese percussion and dance by I DewaPutuBerata'sGamelan Seka Jaya, along with an airing of a rare Beach Boys recording of Pet Sounds, on July 30; and nature tapes by XiuXiu'sJamie Stewart with Canyon Cinema excerpts on the same theme, selected by film critic Max Goldberg, on August 13.
