If current events in real life America aren’t scary enough, ride your broomstick to TheatreFIRST’s season opening show for well-told frights. Eight playwrights occupy the company’s temporary digs at The Waterfront Playhouse with haunting stories. While the troupe’s home at Live Oak Theater undergoes renovation, Artistic Facilitator Jon Tracy and a stable of artists carry to the new venue the flag of equity. Artists involved in the show and throughout the season reflect what makes America — and theater — great: multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multigenerational, nonbinary gender-identifying, talented and dedicated participants. Meaning attending is a civic duty or declaration of independence from hate, divisiveness, cultural appropriation and other contemporary evils. Grab an always reasonably priced ticket and get your shiver on.
