In case you havent seen the original Friday the 13th, you should probably know its not very good. Nostalgically speaking, its a cool way to waste an evening, but it and its sequels never amounted to more than excuses to watch dumb college kids get hacked up. The latest and best in the series is actually a revamp, pretending away the rest of the sequels so that it can follow the original more than twenty years later with pretty much the same empty premise: a bunch of obnoxious Abercrombie & Fitch models invade the crumbling remains of Camp Crystal Lake, inviting the murderous ire of Jason Voorhees (reimagined as a hockey-masked Rambo of the woods). Its mindless and gruesome, but shockingly fun (97 min.).
