French Cassettes

When: Wed., Nov. 28, 9 p.m. 2012

One thing is guaranteed if you're going to a Bourgeois Production show -- you'll hear some eclectic, emerging local bands who know how to please an audience. The next show promises to be no different: French Cassettes is all celebratory, foot-thumping, clean indie pop, and Brolly's Jake Ithurburn has a raw and beautiful voice. But get there early to see the most buzzed-about band in the Bay Area right now: Black Cobra Vipers. The band got started when hometown acquaintances, bassist Julian Borrego and guitarist Gregory DiMartino, reconnected at San Francisco State University and began jamming out fun, jazzy art-rock with the energy of the Cold War Kids. After Rob Mills joined as the band's drummer, the Black Cobra Vipers got its name -- inspired by a two-headed snake Borrego bought from DiMartino's dad. While this lineup isn't exactly a three-headed snake, all three bands have earned great reputations for their live shows, performing this time at Elbo Room (647 Valencia St., San Francisco) on Wednesday, Nov. 28. 9 p.m., $10.
