fiveTEN: Inaugural Pride Bike Ride

When: Fri., Aug. 31, 6-8 p.m. 2012

Logistical issues and financial restraints may have kept the reincarnated Oakland Pride Festival from hosting its own parade, but this year there’s an alternative for those who lament the lack of any organized march associated with the LGBTQ celebration. Event organizer fiveTen, which is running a slew of events throughout the city in conjunction with the annual festival, hosts the Inaugural Pride Bike Ride starting at the West Oakland BART station (300 lakeside Dr.) on Friday, Aug. 31. Co-organized by Oakland Spokes and Binx Garage, the raucous ride will feature bicycles decked out with flags, sound systems, and whatever else riders add to the revelry en route to a Pride kick-off party at Disco Volante (347 14th St., Oakland). 6-8 p.m., free. 510-842-6315 or
