When: Sat., July 9, 8:30 p.m. 2011
As the heirs apparent to a well-documented and well-loved EastBay high school band legacy that includes Panda, Dizzy Balloon, and Please Quiet Ourselves, the boys of Finish Ticket have quite a bit to live up to in their first headlining show. But if we had to bet, we'd guess the guys -- and their brand of catchy, giddy indie-pop -- will go over just fine. After all, they've spent the last several years proving their mettle down bill at pretty much any local venue they could get into, as well as at last year's Not So Silent Night, along with the Smashing Pumpkins, Phoenix, and My Chemical Romance. Raised in Alameda and now attending various colleges around the country, the band is headed out on tour all summer, so who knows when they'll be back in the Bay Area -- all the more reason not to miss 'em now, when they'll be joined by Bird By Bird, Happy Body Slow Brain, and PK. At Bottom of the Hill (1233 17th St., San Francisco) on Saturday, July 9. 8:30 p.m., $12. BottomoftheHill.com.
