When: Sat., Aug. 7, 8 p.m. and Tue., Aug. 10, 8 p.m. 2010
As Wagner continues to resound at Berkeley Opera, Festival Opera steps back in time to mountDonizetti's great bel canto gem, Lucia di Lammermoor. I have high hopes for the soprano lead, Angela Cadelago, who is Opera Santa Barbara's 2010 Young Artist. Tenor Thomas Glenn should be a fine match as Edgardo, and the substantial voices of baritone Brian Leerhuber (Enrico), bass Kirk Eichelberger (Raimondo) and tenor Darron Flagg (Normanno) promise a fine evening of drama and madness. Lucia di Lammermoor runs Saturday, August 7 and Tuesday August 10 (8 p.m.), with more performances the following week at Lesher Center for the Arts (1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek). $39-$100. 925-943-SHOW or FestivalOpera.com.
