Good for the gut and just plain good, fermented foods and drinks are easier to make than you might think. Go beyond yogurt and kombucha at "Fermentation In-Depth: Expanding Beyond the Basics," a class at the Sticky Art Lab (1682 University Ave., Berkeley) on Sunday, Sept. 30. An advanced fermentator offers hands-on experience in crafting herbal soft drinks, seasonal kimchi, and other probiotic treats. After the class, all participants can sample each other's wares, potluck-style. 2 p.m., $35.
