Family Jewish New Year Celebration

When: Sat., Sept. 4, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. 2010

When you're very small, the blast of the shofar -- the ram's horn whose sound signals the start of the Jewish New Year -- isn't so scary if it comes with songs, stories, and puppet shows. At Jewish Gateways (409 Liberty St., El Cerrito) on Saturday, Sept. 4, a Family Jewish New Year Celebration for kids aged five and under and their grownups also features apples and honey. 10:30 a.m.; free for first-time participants, $5 for returning families; RSVP required.
