Family Day

When: Sun., June 29, 2:30 p.m. 2014

In early 2016, the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (2626 Bancroft Way, Berkeley) will relocate to a new, larger downtown location, which organizers hope will make the facility appeal to a wider audience, including, especially, families. In anticipation of the move, museum organizers will host their first Family Day on Sunday. Activities will include workshops in which kids can play with one hundred pounds of clay and create collages and stamps inspired by the new Color Shift exhibit. There will also be specially designed family tours of the galleries throughout the day, and a performance by a cappella jazz, gospel, and world music ensemble SoVoSó. The day will conclude at the PFA Theater with a screening of animated short films adapted from children’s books such as The Emperor’s New Clothes, Cat in the Hat, and Chicken Soup with Rice, followed by a talk by children’s author and illustrator Christy Hale.
