From morels to porcini to chanterelles, many mushrooms growing wild throughout the East Bay are indeed edible. But identifying them -- and discerning the delicacies from the deadly varieties -- requires a lot of expertise. Get a head start at Ardenwood Historic Farm (34600 Ardenwood Blvd., Fremont) with a class called "Fabulous Fungi." Led by Trent Pearce, the class begins with a lesson on grocery-store mushrooms, then continues with a stroll through the farm to determine whether any edible mushrooms are currently growing wild. 2 p.m, free with admission.
Price: free with park admission
