Ethan Ostrow is a talented young Berkeley-based jazz pianist who plays rearranged standards as well as fresh covers of Green Day, Stevie Wonder, Duke Ellington, and more. He also writes original compositions, which are dynamic, passionate, and gorgeous. Ostrow developed his chops as a teen, holding piano duties with the Berkeley High Jazz Ensemble. Barely out of high school, the musician threw a benefit show for Lymphoma Society at Freight & Salvage last year after getting a diagnosis of Stage 4 Burkitt’s Lymphoma himself. He’s had to slow down his relentless work schedule, but after taking some time off to recover, Ostrow continues to work on his music and hopes to release his debut LP, Confused, sometime later this year.
