Ensemble Zellig

When: Sun., Nov. 7, 3 p.m. 2010

Founded in France in 1999, Ensemble Zellig specializes in the performance of innovative and experimental music. The flexibly sized ensemble's Cal Performances debut brings us four West Coast premieres of new works by Guggenheim fellow Don Freund, American composer Gerald Shapiro, French composer Philippe Hersant, and UC Berkeley professor Edmund Campion. Also on the program are rarely heard late twentieth century pieces by Hersant and Philippe Leroux, professor at the French Institut de Rechercheet Coordination Acoustique/Musique. Preceded by a Sightlines talk by Campion at 2 p.m., Ensemble Zellig expands our horizons at Zellerbach Hall (UC Berkeley campus) Sunday, November 7, 3 p.m. A second performance happens that night at Hertz Hall (near College Ave. and Bancroft Way, UC Berkeley). 7 p.m., $42. For 510-642-998 or CalPerformances.org
