End of the World Party with 120 Minutes

When: Fri., Dec. 21, 10 p.m. 2012

San Francisco's oOoOO (aka Christopher Dexter Greenspan) may appear on the surface like yet another beatmaker with yet another silly name (simply pronounced "oh"), but don't dismiss him so easily. His 2012 EP, Our Love Is Hurting Us, is great, but his music becomes especially realized during his live sets, when he syncs tracks to visual projections. During an opening set for Grimes, he displayed cinematic portraits in the style of French New Wave films while he fiddled with a drum machine, sang haunting vocals that he looped, and sulkily danced onstage. oOoOO should set the proper, ominous tone for 120 Minutes' End of the World Party at the Elbo Room (647 Valencia St., San Francisco) on Friday, Dec. 21, where he'll open for LA production duo Nguzunguzu, along with Boychildand resident DJs S4NtA_MU3rTE and Chauncey_CC. Nguzunguzu, whose style cobbles together global bass, mainstream hip-hop, and pop, is most known as the brains behind M.I.A.'s comeback mixtape, Vicki Leekx. 10 p.m., $8, $10.
