Ehiorobo makes warm, irreverent alt-R&B with Sampha-esque vocals, quirky production, and tasty lyrics packed with infatuation and food metaphors. He switches effortlessly between crooning earnestly about his boo on tracks like the Flamingosis-produced “Glide (Favorite Girl)” and half-rapping about burning some egg salad (“Fondue”). His 2016 album, Limeade, is a packed flavor palette, with songs named after every food from artichokes to “Pale Neon Sherbert.” His production is just as delicious, with skittering electronic drum samples, bright horns, and unexpected squeaky synths, playfully experimental yet tempered by smooth vocals. So far, 2018 has found him releasing songs with Tsar of Gamble, COFRESI, and omniboi, who’s on the bill with him at his upcoming Eli’s Mile High Club show. Ehiorobo has also reportedly been busy working on new songs of his own — he’s teased a sophomore album called joltjacket to be released later this year.
