This author of some twenty books including The Torn Star, The Singing Man My Father Gave Me, It's a Grate Country, Night Boats, and Damage Within the Community (sample line: "Life is a bitch, love is a bitch, morning's a bitch, my butt") reads at Moe's (2476 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley) on May 13 with colleague Nancy Keane. 7:30 p.m.
