Edmund Welles Bass Clarinet Quartet

When: Tue., Nov. 27, 8 p.m. 2007

Berkeley Chamber Performances is about to cross so many lines as to launch a full frontal assault on the paradigm of what constitutes classical music. Their secret weapon, the Edmund Welles Bass Clarinet Quartet, performs "Heavy Chamber Music," a daring mix of "avant jazz, heavy chamber music, black metal, and classic rock." I don't know what that means either, but expect original compositions as well as arrangements that range from Renaissance motets to hard gospel and rock. Tuesday, Nov. 27 at BerkeleyCity Club, Berkeley. 8 p.m., $20. BerkeleyChamberPerform.org or 510-525-5211
