It’s true! Just ask the eggheads over at Cal. Researchers at UC Berkeley have just published a study that concludes that pregnant women who eat fruit contaminated by pesticides have a higher incidence of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder among their children. Organophosphates found in many pesticides wreak havoc with the brain’s neurotransmitters, and that in turn disrupts the brain’s ability to concentrate and organize short-term memory. So wash those pears before you chow down, mom-to-be. Or don’t live on an industrial farm, such as the one where the test subjects were located. Or don’t eat fruit; Micky D’s is just around the corner!
