Sports & Outdoors-Participatory

East Bay Ultimate

When: Tuesdays, Thursdays, 7-11 p.m. Continues through Feb. 25 2010

The Ultimate season has begun. Frisbees will be flying every Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the Bay Area Disc Association, which will launch its winter session this week (through February 25). Leagues have already been formed, but that doesn't mean that you can't catch the action (or hold out hope that they may need to grab a last-minute replacement). The tossers play at the Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex (400 Gilman St., Berkeley) and San Pablo Fields (2800 Mabel St., Berkeley). They claim the competitive level is "recreational," but you have to figure anyone committed enough to run around in the parks during the winter months must have a high level of energy and enthusiasm. $50 to join, free to watch.
