E= Girl Powered²

When: Jan. 3-10 2008

For every girl who likes Bratz dolls and Teletubbies, there's another who'd rather play with remote-controlled rockets, or take the television apart and put it back together. This winter, ChabotSpace & ScienceCenter (10000 Skyline Blvd., Oakland) offers Saturday workshops for girls in grades six to eight to build simple circuits, learn the basic principles of electricity, and maybe eviscerate a few household appliances in the process. They'll even get to finish two LED-based take-home projects. Dubbed E= Girl Powered², the series of four workshops runs through February 9, with registration starting Thursday, Jan. 3. Each session costs $150-$165. To register, e-mail
