Dirtybird Summer

When: Fri., July 8, 9 p.m. 2011

San Francisco house-tech label Dirtybird Records actually began as a series of outdoor parties presented by DJ Christian Martin, a long-time raver, vinyl collector, gear fetishist, and socialite. He launched the label with the help of his brother Justin, a local producer named Worthy, and Barclay Crenshaw, who is now better known by his DJ handle, Claude Von Stroke. They specialize in clean, blippy, minimalist electronic music, most of it catchy enough to pack a dance floor. Dirtybird mixes feature hypnotic drum patterns, percussive studio effects, and the occasional looped vocal sample. In comparison to other forms of house music, it's pretty imaginative. Dirtybird's next fete happens at Mezzanine (444 Jessie St., San Francisco) on Friday, July 8. All of the usual suspects will be spinning records -- or manhandling laptops, as it were. 9 p.m., free before 11 p.m. with an RSVP, $20 thereafter. MezzanineSF.com
