Dellums: City Open Only Four Days a Week

Speaking of broke-ass cities, the Oakland Tribune reports that Mayor Ron Dellums is expected to cut city services to four days a week, as part of his plan to resolve the $50 million budget deficit. The cutbacks, which will not touch police and fire services, are expected to last for the rest of the fiscal year, i.e., until the end of next June. Even with this meatball surgery, the City Council will still have to cut an additional $8 million from the budget somewhere.
