Louise Osmond and Jerry Rothwell's admirably nerve-wracking documentary tells what happened during a 1968-69 round-the-world race for solo yachts in particular the case of Donald Crowhurst, a mild-mannered English engineer and amateur sailor who hocked his modest family's life savings to make the voyage. From the first glimpse of Crowhurst we can detect he's a bit highly strung, so we expect some drama, but the doc still surprises us with all the things that could go wrong for a solitary sailor on the high seas in the days before GPS and other modern conveniences.
