Dave Gleason and The Golden Cadillacs

When: Sat., April 17, 9:30 p.m. 2010

San Francisco cowpoke Dave Gleason packed up his guitar and Nudie suits and moved down to LA in 2007. He's been making big waves down south ever since with a sound that combines twangadelic Bakersfield bounce, roots rock, and outlaw country with a raw vocal style that's equal parts honky-tonk hero and crazed rock star. Gleason is currently touring with his new combo, the Golden Cadillacs, paving the way for his soon-to-be-released album Turn and Fade. On his return to his old stomping grounds in Berkeley this week, he'll be supported by two other fine Northern California country outfits: 77 El Deora and Mars, Arizona. Gleason plays Saturday, Apr. 17 at the Starry Plough (3101 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley). 9 p.m., $8.
