Dancing in the Park

When: Sat., April 30, 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. 2011

Pack a picnic and savor a day of dance from around the bay at Dancing in the Park, now in its fourth year. Presented by Mark Foehringer Dance Project on Saturday, April 30, as part of National Dance Week, the event features more than 25 companies in the festive setting of Golden Gate Park's Music Concourse (between the Hall of Sciences and the De Young Museum, San Francisco), including Oakland Ballet, Company C Contemporary Ballet, AXIS Dance Company, Stephen Pelton Dance Theater, SoulForce, Moving Arts, SJ Dance Co., and Foehringer's own troupe. Throughout the day, professional dancers lead lessons in modern, salsa, improv, and hip-hop, and performers from SF State, SF Conservatory of Dance, San Jose State, and the Young Choreographer's Festival get to show their stuff. 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m., free. 415-640-2784 or
