It's a mess, but it isn't as bad as you think: One or two moments in this werewolf flick, from the Scream team of director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson, generate genuine scares. Estranged siblings Christina Ricci (who deserves better) and Jesse Eisenberg are driving home together when they hit a large beast, causing a car wreck. Both are bitten by the creature and soon start enjoying heightened senses and increased sexual magnetism. The only problem is they're gonna have to become large dogs at some point, though the rules aren't quite clear as to when -- the whole full-moon thing seems optional. Lance Bass, Craig Kilborn, and Scott Baio appear as themselves for no apparent reason, and there's a strange action sequence set inside a large Hollywood dance club that doubles as a wax museum (we have no idea either). More gratuitous gore and nudity would have made Cursed more palatable; as is, it's cheesy, but not in a gloriously excessive way. Still, worth a video rental for the curious.
