From Jesse James to Gary Gilmore, and beyond, international folk and pop music abounds with ballads about robbers, killers, and other criminals. At the Castro Valley Library (3600 Norbridge Ave., Castro Valley) on Thursday, Sept. 2, music historian Rick Spencer delivers a lecture on the human passion for memorializing crimes in song.
