The latest installment of Books Inc.'s (1344 Park St., Alameda) Conversations with Authors series takes place Saturday, July 23, featuring readings by and discussions with fiction writers Jacqueline Luckett, creator of the rousing, midlife chick-lit Searching for Tina Turner; Cheo Tyehimba, author of the short story collection Like Loving Backwards; and Phillip Wilhite, whose Surviving Chadwick, a Catcher in the Rye for the 1970s, came out in 2009. 7 p.m., free. 510-522-2226 or
