Contemporary Writers Series: Wanda Coleman

Often called "the unofficial poet laureate of Los Angeles," Wanda Coleman (sample lines: "oozy Manes spill/out yonder spooling in night's lofty hour exudes/her gloom and spew in rankling odor of heady dour") is the author of several books including Bathwater Wine, Native in a Strange Land, Hand Dance,and African Sleeping Sickness, and the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation. She reads from her work on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the Mills Hall Living Room at Mills College (5000 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland). 5:30 p.m.
