Community Story Circle

When: Sat., Jan. 12, 2 p.m. 2008

Once the hub of a vast land grant presided over by a prosperous Californio clan, Peralta Hacienda Historical Park (2465 34th Ave., Oakland)is a swatch of historical open space in densely urban Fruitvale. As one of ten projects nationwide selected to receive aid from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1999, the park now represents the efforts of eminent historians and landscape artists. On Saturday, Jan. 12, local yarnspinners host a Community Story Circle; all participants are welcome to contribute. A spoken-word event for young bards follows. 2 p.m. PeraltaHacienda.org
