Impactful documentary profiles the men and women who work in Los Angeles County Hospital’s trauma bay, where reportedly more people have died, and more have been saved, than anywhere else in the country. Filmmaker Ryan McGarry is a physician who trained at LAC, and so we take a doctor’s-eye view of the “stressful and sobering” business of caring for uninsured public patients with major medical complaints. We also observe the man who mops up the blood. As a doctor notes, there is no profit in caring for these patients. It’s about something more than money. The title is the hospital’s name for an “over-saturated” situation, something they deal with more frequently these days than ever before (82 min.).
