Closing Day at Golden Gate Fields

When: Sun., June 22, 12 p.m. 2008

This Sunday, June 22, marks the closing day at Golden Gate Fields (1100 Eastshore Hwy., Albany), after which the thoroughbreds are off to the fairs until the fall (the next stop for many of the ponies is Pleasanton for a two-week session at the Alameda County Fairgrounds). The last day is also Dollar Day, meaning you can see the $75,000 Lost in the Fog Stakes race while downing dogs, beer, and soda for a buck apiece. Eighties cover band Tainted Love will provide music between races -- a soothing solace if you don't hear your horse's name called at the finish line. $1-$12. GoldenGateFields.com
