Songwriter Steve Goodman's best-known number is "City of New Orleans," made into a Top-40 hit by Arlo Guthrie. Diagnosed with leukemia at age twenty, Goodman spent his remaining sixteen years releasing ten albums and winning three Grammy Awards. At Moe'sBooks (2476 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley) on Monday, July 28, journalist Clay Eals discusses his book Steve Goodman: Facing the Music, which draws upon interviews with Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, and many more. Musicians David Gans, Jim Rothermel, Joe Adams, Jim Stevens, Perry Barber, and Harry Gray will also perform. 7:30 p.m.
