The San Francisco Chronicle laid off more journalists today as part of the paper's ongoing cost-cutting moves. Among those who got the ax was Christopher Heredia, the paper's Oakland City Hall beat reporter, according to two knowledgeable sources. With Heredia gone, the newspaper now has no regular reporter covering Oakland, the second largest city in the Chron's circulation area. It'll be interesting to see whether the paper moves someone else into Heredia's spot, or requires Berkeley City Hall reporter Carolyn Jones to do both jobs. The list of other journalists who were laid off today include:
Jim Doyle - higher education reporter
Jane Kay - environmental reporter
Susan Sward - investigative reporter
Tyche Hendricks - reporter
John Koopman - reporter
Delfin Vigil - reporter
Jonathan Curiel - reporter who did Chronicle Watch
