Christopher Felver

After a stint in the army, photographer-filmmaker Christopher Felverheaded west in 1966, stopping when he reached San Francisco and beating a path to City Lights. Thus began Felver's career as a chronicler of the illustrious circle of writers with whom that bookshop remains most famously linked. At Moe's (2476 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley) on Dec. 5, he launches his new book, BEAT, a retrospective featuring images of Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, City Lights owner Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and other icons, with contributions from insiders including Neal Cassady, Gary Snyder, Joanne Kyger, and Jack Kerouac. 7:30 p.m.
