Children's Winter Festival

When: Sat., Nov. 12, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. 2011

Winter starts early in Walnut Creek. The city opens its annual 8,000-square-foot outdoor ice skating rink on Nov. 11 for public and private skating sessions through Jan. 16. But the Children's Winter Festival marks the first big shindig of the season, with wintery wonders like live ice sculpting and skating performances alongside decidedly less seasonal festivities like face painting, magicians, live music by the Walnut Creek Intermediate Glee Club, and raffles every thirty minutes. At the Holiday Ice Rink in Civic Park (1375 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek) on Saturday, Nov. 12. 11 a.m.-2 p.m., free-$15. 925-935-7669 or IceSkateWalnutCreek.com
