All Ages, Blues, Folk, & Country, Rock & Pop

When: Fri., Sept. 25, 7 p.m. 2009

Supergroups are always a dicey proposition even if it is one like Chickenfoot, whose lineup consists of Bay Area guitar whiz Joe Satriani, boisterous frontman Sammy Hagar, deposed Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers skinbasher Chad Smith. Still on the road since late spring, it remains to be seen if Hagar's boasts that Chickenfoot could "rival Led Zeppelin" and that "It's ten times Van Halen, because it's functional -- we all like each other" end up panning out. Sweetening up this bill based around a smorgasbord of ego are opening acts Queensrÿche and Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam on Friday, Sept. 25, at the Greek Theatre (Gayley Rd. at Hearst Ave., Berkeley), Berkeley). 7 p.m., $39.50-$65.
